Join us for our annual inter-college orienteering competition around Cambridge City Centre!

Orienteering is a sport involving racing a set course in the fastest time possible, navigating your way between controls (checkpoints) using a map. The races will be suitable for everyone and there will be a practice course for those new to the sport, as well as plenty of experienced orienteers who are more than willing to lend a hand! Typically orienteers compete individually, but newcomers are welcome to take part in pairs or small groups. Wear clothes/shoes you are happy to run in, bring a phone, and we will provide everything else you need!

Team & Individual Competition

To have a competitive team, you will need to find at least three runners from your college (for mixed colleges this should include at least one runner on each of the M/W courses). There are also individual trophies up for grabs and theres no requirement to field a full team to take part.

Logistics & Timing

Assembly opens at 09:45 near the tennis courts on Jesus Green, where you can securely leave your bags while you run. If you are new to orienteering, this is also where you can try out the practice course. The starting boxes are located directly at the assembly area, and both the start and finish lines are within 200 metres. The start window is open from 10:00 to 11:00.

We are using the MapRun phone app for race timing. Please download and install the app on your phone before arriving, or we can help you configure it at assembly. Please, if possible, use your phone for MapRun rather than watch, as watches might cause issues with some of the settings applied to these courses.
