On Saturday, as part of the UKUL and UKEOL, we are offering a two-part sprint around Trumpington. Built during the 2010s, this new housing development has a fantastic sprint offering: a quick, furious area, with an abundance of routechoice and sharp turns that force mistakes from runners.

The morning race will be held in Trumpington West. This area was last used for the BUCS relays in 2024. A previous version of the northern part of the map can be found here.

The afternoon race will be held in Trumpington East. This area has not previously been used for a competitive orienteering event, but is well-known amongst Cambridge locals for its technical orienteering, and is particularly well-suited to the dramatic chasing sprint format on offer on UKEOL courses 1 and 2 – first to the finish line wins!

Sunday 23rd. Huntingdon Urban and Elite Sprint Races

Huntingdon map extract

On Sunday we welcome orienteers to Huntingdon for classic urban orienteering, or a sprint race for UKEOL classes E1 and E2. Huntingdon, 20 miles NW of Cambridge, offers a fantastic technical challenge for orienteering. The area is comprised of three different urban styles. The courses start and finish in a classic 60s estate with intricate cut throughs, passages and routechoices that will test runners. As an old market town, the town centre is a challenging mix of narrow alleyways and irregular roads. Contrastingly, a final residential area completes the map, a chance for runners to open up their stride maybe, or is there a catch?

Elite races and junior courses will take place solely within the northern 60s estate; a cracking and intricate sprint area, forcing runners to be at the top of their game.

Icenian Trophy

The Icenian trophy will be awarded to the best performing club with at least 8 members in total taking part on either day. See the rules documents for full details
