|Notes||Urban courses around the city centre|
CUOC warmly invites you to the seventh edition of the Cambridge City Race, taking place on Saturday 30th October 2021. The race will take place in and around the historic centre of Cambridge and will provide competitors with a technical and memorable racing experience.
The event will be based out of the Fort St. George Pub on Midsomer Common: the perfect opportunity for a post-race pub meal before perhaps a more leisurely explore of central Cambridge.
We are now able to present you with preliminary details for the event. We are looking forward to welcoming you all to Cambridge for some high-quality urban orienteering.
We are offering a standard complement of adult and junior courses, extending from M/W12- through to Hypervet. Below is a list of course distances. Bear in mind that these are straight line distances; you can expect to run around 30-50% further than the given distance, unless you wish to go in a straight line and be a) spiderman and b) disqualified.
Men's Open - 6.6km
Women's Open, Men's Veteran (M40+) - 5.5km
Men's Supervet (M55+), Women's Veteran (W40+) - 4.9km
Men's Ultravet (M65+), Women's Supervet (W55+) - 3.7km
Men's Hypervet (M75+), Women's Ultra/Hypervet (W65+) - 3.2km
This year the courses will once again be in and around central Cambridge. Unfortunately due to varying and ongoing covid restrictions put in place by individual colleges we have been unable to get access to any college buildings for the race. However, the University has given us permission to use the Downing site, which will provide a significant technical challenge to all adult runners if you've not already had your orienteering brain severely tested by the varied and intricate terrain found in central and western Cambridge.
Start times will run from 10.30 - 13.30. You are able to express a start time preference when entering through SIEntries. We will endeavour to send out start times in good time before the event, however, if you feel you need a different start time then we will try to sort this for you. There will also be limited entry on the day available - this will be on a first-come, first-serve basis.
Assembly will be based next to the Fort St. George Pub on Midsomer Common, right next to the river Cam and a 10 minute walk from the city centre. Some of the event services will be based inside the pub itself, however competitors will be able to leave personal items in the assembly area adjacent, which will be marked out and looked after by event helpers.
Entries are available on the SIentries website. More specific course details are also available here.
